(Don’t) Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Scam

The holidays are here again, and so are the scammers. In this week’s Tech Teach, Rob and Jeff identify some of the newest holiday scams, so you know what you’re up against.

Sadly, the scams keep getting more numerous and sophisticated (as if 2020 weren’t challenging enough). Phishing emails are still the number one method of theft and breach, and they’ve gotten better at deceiving. Along with the usual phone calling scams, text messages are also a new avenue of exploitation. Scammers are doing everything — from creating Zoom password reset scams to fake Facebook links and fake LinkedIn Messaging and FedEx texts — to try and use your relationships against you.

DON’T CLICK ON LINKS!!!!! would be the simplest way to avoid these scams. But since that’s all but impossible to do these days, the more realistic approach is to get smarter and more vigilant about verifying the communications that come across your feeds.

Fortunately, Rob and Jeff are here to walk you through some of the worst scams and help you learn how to protect yourself.
